Samuel Inkster

Samuel Inkster is a Student Member of the IES, and is currently studying for a BSc in Environmental Science at the University of Southampton.

Samuel has long been fascinated with the natural world, and has been particularly inspired by the much-loved David Attenborough documentaries. Within environmental science, his special interests include renewable energy resources, environmental education, environmental consultancy and environmental management in the construction industry. In a future career, he hopes to combine his two main passions — business and sustainability — to create affordable, sustainable solutions that will move society forwards in tackling the world’s biggest threat: climate change.

Currently, Samuel is pursuing this goal through a project in his local city, Southampton. His project, called Seeds for Thought, aims to tackle food insecurity and consequently childhood obesity through a comprehensive healthy eating education programme. Additionally, he manufactures hydroponics, which are water-based growing kits that people with no access to a garden can use to grow fresh vegetables and fruits on their windowsills.
