New FWR website goes live

The Foundation for Water Research (FWR) and the IES are pleased to announce the launch of the new FWR branding and website.

The branding
The FWR joined the IES family in July 2022, to become our water community. As part of our work in modernising the organisation and bringing it into alignment with the future of IES rebrand, we have developed a new visual identity. The aim of the branding is to reflect the FWR's unique identity as an independent community of water professionals, and its key position within the IES family and the sector.

The IES rebranding will be launched later this year, but the new FWR branding gives some sneak peeks on the direction. The FWR visual identity utilises a ‘drop’ shape, representing water, which is used as an area device and as a way to give images a strong link to the FWR. The colours are also derived from the future IES brand colour pallette, but with a few additions, to make the FWR identity unique.

The website
Our aim is to make the FWR website the go-to hub for all water professionals, hosting all of the FWR’s key activities across the water sector, including a library of past and updated publications, such as the Reviews of Current Knowledge (RoCKs), books and guides, details of water events from the FWR and others, and the new FWR Analysis articles.

The new website makes the FWR's extensive back catalogue easily searchable. The organisation has published 32 RoCKs, 12 guides and 3 books. The FWR Technical Panels are currently in the process of reviewing and updating some of the older publications and these are marked as 'Under Review' on the website.

FWR Analysis pieces are contributed by leading water professionals, and explore cutting-edge innovation, news, and research areas relevant to water specialists. New FWR Analysis pieces are released periodically, and are themed around relevant topics such as flooding, nature-based solutions, and technology developments in the sector. If you want to share an article on a specific project, a new technology, or simply your insights into your work in the water sector with the FWR community, get in touch with us at publications@the-ies.org.

Along with the new FWR website, a corresponding newsletter will be released 3 times per year, which will detail key events, job opportunities, news and FWR activities. To stay up to date with all FWR activities, hear about new opportunities, and ways to get involved with the community, you can sign up to the newsletter
