The UK is now the world leader in offshore wind power generation, with 3.6 GW capacity installed, which at the end of 2012 represented over 3% of total UK energy generation capacity. With a great deal more capacity currently under construction or awaiting planning permission, this form of energy generation is likely to become an increasingly important element of the UK's energy portfolio over the coming years, so the debate concerning windfarm development is not likely to disappear...
