Binnies are currently recruiting for 2 positions to join our growing multi-disciplinary Environmental Services team, an EIA Consultant/Senior EIA Consultant & a Regional Environmental/EIA Team Leader.
Regional Environmental/EIA Team Leader - As well as providing a manager role for our environmental team based in the west country, you will get the opportunity to work on a wide portfolio of projects, from nationally significant infrastructure projects to landscape scale restoration. Our portfolio of work includes flood, coastal and maritime projects and a range of other sectors such as ports, water utilities, transport and renewable power.
EIA Consultant/Senior EIA Consultant - You will get the opportunity to work on an interesting and varied portfolio of work including flood, coastal and maritime projects for our clients such as the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and local authorities and a range of other sectors such as ports, water utilities, transport and renewable power.
One of our newest projects is SESRO (South East Strategic Reservoir Option). SESRO is a 150 million cubic metre reservoir near Abingdon, which is also seeking to provide opportunities to create new habitats and increase biodiversity, as well as providing new leisure and recreation facilities. https://thames-wrmp.co.uk/projects/sesro/.

About the Roles:
- Regional Environmental/EIA Team Lead:
- The role will include:
- Providing direction and oversight of the regional Environmental Team, including management of resources and pastoral care and performance.
- Providing line manager and mentor role to members of the environmental team.
- Managing all stages of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) including SEA and the range of other environmental assessments and consents such as WFD, HRA, and planning.
- Provide the reviewer and approver role for environmental deliverables; driving technical quality.
- Supporting tenders.
- Supporting recruitment.
Qualifications/Requirements:
The role is suitable for an Environmental professional with full professional membership (such as IEMA, IES or CIWEM). In addition, should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
- An environmental related degree
- Chartered with a relevant institute
- A thorough understanding of EIA, sustainability and consenting (planning, HRA, WFD etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Excellent people skills and ideally previous management/supervisory experience
- Understanding of commercial drivers of consultancy and ability to manage and work to programme and budget
- Experience in client facing roles and development of client relationships
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Previous consultancy experience
Experience of construction stage delivery would be an advantage but not essential.
We would welcome applicants of Principal Level and above and we can flex salary based on grade and experience. Start date is flexible. Hybrid/flexible working is also available.
EIA Consultant/Senior EIA Consultant:
We are looking for candidates to work closely with other environmental and engineering disciplines to:
- Contribute to all stages of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) from option appraisal to full statutory assessments
- Provide input into the range of other environmental and sustainability assessment and consenting applications such as WFD, HRA, planning, Development Consent Orders, Environmental Net Gain and Environmental Permits
- Assist with coordinating technical input from environmental specialists across Binnies, wider RSK family of businesses and our specialist supply chain
- Support construction stage delivery
- Support stakeholder engagement and communication with clients, stakeholders and the public
- Provide input to bids and proposals.
Essential Requirements:
The role is suitable for an Environmental professional with several years of relevant environmental assessment experience. You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
- An environmental related degree
- Be a member of IEMA, IES, CIWEM or another professional institute
- Have or working towards Chartership
- A sound understanding of EIA
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have previous consultancy experience
- Have the ability to organise, manage and prioritise work, with or without supervision, in order to meet tight deadlines and deliver well-planned work schedules
