The IES would like to congratulate Professor Liz Price for being awarded an MBE in The King’s Birthday Honours list. Liz has been recognised for her contribution to Sustainability Education.
Liz is a Professor of Environmental Education, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor Sustainability at Manchester Metropolitan University and the immediate past Chair of CEDHE.
In her role as CEDHE Chair from 2020-2024, Liz has played a pivotal role in driving sustainability across Environmental Science education. This year, Liz hosted the annual CEDHE Forum which shared a vision for optimism, evidence and skills for environmental science education.
Alongside her role at Manchester Metropolitan University, Liz is a Council Member of the IES, a member of the Quality Assurance Agency and Advance HE Advisory Group that reviewed the Education for Sustainable Development Guidance for the UK, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Association for Learning Design and Education for Sustainable Development. Liz is the University Partner in the Department for Education National Education Nature Park consortium and Co-Lead of the UK Consortium on Sustainability Research.
Liz’s professional accolades include being a Chartered Environmentalist, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
During her time as CEDHE Chair, Liz has delivered a wide range of opportunities to the CEDHE Community. She has played a key role in shaping the ES3 benchmark and embedding employability skills in environmental programmes. Liz helped to develop the new accreditation criteria, along with the CEDHE Executive Committee, to enhance the focus on Education for Sustainable Development, EDI and Employability.
