AGM 2024

The 51st IES AGM was held on 8th May 2024. The event was once again held online to allow maximum engagement from members.

Chair's Review of the Year
In her final AGM as IES Chair, Julie Hill, reflected on three areas during her times in office where she felt that IES has risen capably to the external agenda: water, climate action and nature recovery. She paid tribute to the IES staff and trustees who had supported her as Chair.

CEO's Reflections on 2023 & Plans for 2024
Adam Donnan, IES CEO, reflected on the the activities of the Institution in 2023. He thanked the IES staff team and over 400 members of the IES who volunteer in some capacity, for enabling the organisation to achieve a high volume and quality of outputs. He outlined what members could expect to see in the coming year, including new branding, an updated website and the Dialogue between Disciplines conference.

He concluded by thanking Julie Hill for her outstanding service as Chair and announced that Council had elected her as President, with her term beginning immediately after the AGM.

Treasurer's Update
Ian Byrne, IES Treasurer, gave a review of the 2022-23 accounts. He discussed how income and reserves have grown over the past 7 years.

Elections
All resolutions were passed. Kerry Dinsmore, Iain McLellan and Denise Adaoyibo Okpala were elected to Council, and Liz Price was re-elected for a second term. Julie thanked all the candidates who stood for election.
