Main Purpose of the Post
The Publications Officer will be responsible for coordinating the production, delivery and dissemination of key publications and outputs.
You will have strong writing skills and a keen eye for layout and design. Relishing a varied workday and the chance to engage with a wide range of environmental topics, you should be highly organised, motivated and able to fit into the collaborative culture of the office. You will be an individual who takes pride in their work and can deliver projects to tight deadlines.
Job Role
- Work with the Publications Lead to originate ideas for the IES journal, reports and other publications.
- Support the production and delivery of publications, including tracking progress against production schedules; liaising with and providing feedback to contributors; editing in line with house style; and coordinating the work of external graphic designers, copyeditors and printers.
- Act as the first point of contact for appropriate experts and contributors.
- Ensure that publications reflect organisational values and adhere to IES brand and editorial guidelines.
- Lay out publications using InDesign and produce charts and graphs using Illustrator.
- Source appropriate images for print and web use and assist with art direction and design of publications.
- Upload publications to the IES website, creating landing pages and drafting appropriate copy to accompany publications.
- Write engaging short-form content for our website, e-newsletter and publications marketing, and collate the monthly e-newsletter and Foundation for Water Research newsletter.
- Help to develop processes to engage members in suggesting topics of interest and contributing to publications.
- To undertake any other relevant tasks as specified by the Publications Lead or Senior Management Team.

About the Role
The position is full time, and is permanent subject to a three-month probation period. Interviews will take place remotely via Zoom on the week commencing 26th June, with a view to the successful candidate starting as soon as possible.
