Each year, we survey our members to identify trends in how different services are valued and to gather members’ opinions on potential future developments. This report presents the findings of our 2021 membership survey.
The survey showed that our live and recorded webinars remain highly valued by members, with 95% of respondents rating them as ‘very important’ or ‘important’. In 2020, we hosted a record 33 webinars, covering a wide variety of specialisms, and there are now over 60 webinars available to view on our YouTube channel. Our quarterly journal, publications such as reports, guidance documents and position statements, and the opportunity to achieve chartership all additionally continue to be highly regarded by members.
This year, we also asked members to provide feedback on the additional services and resources delivered in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We were pleased to see that over 90% of members found these to be ‘very’ or ‘moderately’ useful.
A number of years ago we introduced the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to our membership survey. NPS is an index ranging from -100 to 100 that measures how many people would recommend the IES to a friend or colleague. We have continued to score highly in this index, with an impressive score of 46 this year.
