The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) have recently launched their new professional registration, Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP), and the IES are amongst the first licensing bodies to offer this to our members.
What is REnvP?
The Registered Environmental Practitioner is a professional registration that demonstrates your commitment to the environmental sector and that you apply a level of environmental knowledge,
understanding and skill to protect and enhance the environment in a sustainable way. REnvP status recognises the level of professional practice you have achieved within your discipline or across multiple disciplines within the environmental sciences. It is a badge of honour that differentiates you from your peers and the next rung on the ladder towards chartership.
The IES offers several professional registrations. Is REnvP right for me?
Registered Environmental Practitioner sits between Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) and the Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv).
To qualify for REnvP, an individual will need to hold membership of a relevant licensing body (e.g. the IES), have achieved a QCF level 5 qualification (broadly equating to a Higher National Diploma, Higher Technical Qualification or as part of a bachelor's degree) or have the equivalent knowledge to a QCF level 5 qualification, and possess sufficient relevant practical experience to demonstrate the REnvP competencies.
For IES members wishing to obtain REnvP status, you will need to hold Associate level IES membership, a level 5 or equivalent qualification, plus 1 years' post-graduation relevant work experience.
How do I apply?
Take a look through our information pack and decide your preference between a written report or interview to demonstrate how you meet the competencies. Once you have decided, download and fill out the relevant application (report or interview) form, and submit this to the IES administration team along with your long-form CV. We are running an introductory offer to all REnvP candidates in 2020: application costs just £68 and your REnvP will not need to be renewed until January 2022 in the first instance. Applications from 1st January 2021 will cost £98 and will be renewed at the end of the year as per our other professional registrations.
