The IES has recently become one of the registered charities that you can donate to through AmazonSmile. What is AmazonSmile?

AmazonSmile is the same online retail experience as you get with standard Amazon. The products are the same, the service is the same, the costs are the same. The only difference is Amazon will donate 0.5% of the cost of all eligible purchases to your chosen charity. So far this scheme has raised over £3.6million for charitable causes including WWF, RSPCA and WaterAid.

As a registered charity with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, the IES is eligible to receive donations through this scheme. We have now successfully registered – so please consider choosing us as your AmazonSmile charity of choice.

How does it work?

It’s simple. Instead of going to Amazon.co.uk, simply go to AmazonSmile. On your first visit to AmazonSmile, you will be asked to select a charitable organisation. You can easily search for the Institution of Environmental Sciences in the search bar and select us for your chosen charitable cause. Once you’ve selected your chosen charitable cause, make sure you are shopping through smile.amazon.co.uk for all your Amazon purchases.

If you shop through the Amazon App on iOS or Android, simply go to ‘settings’ to switch AmazonSmile on and continue shopping as normal.

Where does the money come from?

Amazon give 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT and other shipping fees) of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the IES, if we are your chosen charity. There are no additional costs to you or to us; the donations come directly from Amazon.

Does this mean you are affiliated/partnered with Amazon?

No. None of the registered charities on AmazonSmile are partnered with or affiliated with Amazon in any way. This is simply a way for us to generate more income to help promote and support environmental science and scientists.
