The IES and STEM join forces

The IES has partnered up with the STEM Ambassador London hub to bring you two new events specifically designed to help IES members make the most of the STEM Ambassador scheme. The IES aims to provide support to the over 70 members that are already registered STEM Ambassadors and encourage more of its members to share their knowledge and passion for environmental sciences with young generations through this inspiring scheme.

STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and interests. They offer their time and enthusiasm to bring STEM subjects to life for young people and help demonstrate their value. They engage and inspire by working with schools and other organisations supporting a variety of activities including assemblies, lessons, STEM clubs, careers activities and large events and fairs.

Tempted to become an Ambassador? Join our webinar

On the 19th March, Natalie Cheung STEM Ambassador Coordinator will join us to present a webinar and cover what STEM Ambassadors do, the background and impact of the STEM Ambassador programme why IES members should join as volunteers and how to get involved.

Find out more and sign up for the webinar.

The workshop

On the 14th May we are hosting a workshop to support IES STEM Ambassadors who have completed the full training process to explore the opportunities, outreach activities and platforms available for you to promote and inspire the next generation to pursue a career in STEM professions. During the workshop, you will be also offered guidance to find the best outreaching opportunities in your area.

IES members who are registered STEM Ambassadors who have completed all 6 stages are welcome to attend. The workshop will take place on 14th May, giving plenty of time for those who are interested in participating to go through the full registration process beforehand. Find more information about the event.

Become a STEM Ambassador

Steps to undertake to become a STEM Ambassador:

1 - Register online here as a “STEM Ambassador volunteer”

2 - Verify your account on receipt of your confirmation email

3 - Complete an induction online. This is available on the STEM Ambassadors website here

4 - On completion of the induction, please email the STEM Hub London. 6 - Receipt of approval as a STEM Ambassador

Please be aware that the registration process can take between 4 and 6 weeks. We advice those interested in participating to the STEM training workshop to register as soon as possible.

Already a STEM Ambassador?

If you are an experienced STEM Ambassador we would love to hear from you. We are currently looking for IES members that can help us facilitate our event on 19th May, perhaps by sharing their own experience of the programme in a short presentation. We would also like to offer you the opportunity to have your profile featured in our newsletter and website. If you are interested in sharing your experience contact us here
