The IES would like to congratulate the four CHES accredited universities who took home awards at this year's Green Gown Awards. The University of Reading, Nottingham Trent University, the University of Birmingham, and the University of Manchester, were all successful at the award ceremony in Manchester, organised by the Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges (EAUC). Additionally, individuals from Nottingham Trent University and the University of Southampton picked up awards in the Leadership and Sustainability Professional categories respectively and a number of CHES accredited universities highly commended across the board.
Established in 2004, the Green Gown Awards recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the UK. With sustainability moving up the agenda, the Awards have become established as the most prestigious recognition of best practice within the further and higher education sector. The judging panel is made up of representatives from across the sector, including the Institution of Environmental Sciences.
CHES members were successful in a range of award categories:
- University of Reading – The Energy Consortium (large institution)
- Nottingham Trent University – Employability (large institution)
- University of Birmingham – Facilities and Services
- University of Manchester – Learning and Skills
