During a General Election campaign it can sometimes be hard to sift through the news coverage and multitude of statements being made by candidates and spokespeople from every party, to find information on the issues which are important to you. To help with this, we scanned the party manifestos and produced a series of factsheets which explained each party's position on various environmental issues. We also decided to find out what IES website users thought about the coverage environmental issues had received during the campaign. Were these issues receiving enough attention?
The results of our poll show that the vast majority of the 140 participants felt that environmental issues should have received further attention in the campaigns and election debates. 13% of survey participants felt that some useful discussion had taken place, but there should have been more, whilst only 6% felt that the environmental had been given sufficient attention. There was wide consensus that the environment should be talked about in election campaigns, with only 1% of survey participants indicating otherwise.
