Each year, the Royal Society pairs 30 research scientists with UK parliamentarians and civil servants, giving them the opportunitiy to learn about each other's work by spending time together in Westminster and the researcher's labs.
The scheme represents a great opportunity for participants to gain insight into how research can inform decision-making and grow their network. In the environmental sector, as in other areas of science, we see a need today more than ever to promote the use of robust scientific evidence in policy making, so we would encourage any interested and suitably qualified IES members to apply for this exciting opportunity.
More information is available on the Royal Society website.
If you are interested in applying for the pairing scheme, please also get in touch with Robert Ashcroft at the IES, who would be happy to discuss your application with you.
