The IES is proud to add its name to the Science Council's Declaration on Diversity, Equality & Inclusion. The Declaration seeks to support a more diverse science workforce and illustrates the importance of diversity as an issue of concern for professional bodies. This will work towards creating greater opportunity for any individual to fulfil their scientific potential, irrespective of their background or circumstances. In so doing it will also help science to better serve society by attracting the widest possible talent to the science workforce and fostering a greater diversity of scientific ideas, research and technology. 

The IES has long been committed to promoting equality and equity, and signing the declaration signifies the IES determination to implement a programme of work to embed these principles of equality, diversity and inclusion within our organisation policies, practices and behaviours. We also committ to enhancing the equality of opportunity in our activities as an employer and professional body. We look forward to continuing and expanding our diversity journey with the support of the Science Council and collaboration with other member bodies.
