Our annual Burntwood Lecture was held on 6th December 2022 at Burlington House, London. This year's lecture was given by Caroline Lucas MP who discussed the UK’s present energy situation and future outlook. It was also an opportunity for the IES to mark the 50th anniversary of our organisation.
Also announced at the event was a new horizon scanning and foresight project introduced by the IES Chair Julie Hill, set to run throughout 2023.
The evening was as successful as ever with a winning combination of contentious discussion, interdisciplinary networking, and joint reflection on the legacy of 50 years of scientific endeavour. The IES extends its deepest thanks and gratitude to all those who attended the event – both in-person and online – and for the continued support of our members and Trustees.
