We provide our Full members with two supportive routes to become a Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Scientist.
Whether you prefer to work as part of a group in a workshop environment or as an individual completing the process at your own pace, we have a route which will support you in becoming Chartered.
Our Chartership workshops have moved online to support our members based at home during the lockdown period, making this opportunity highly accessible for all Full members irrespective of location. Following a 'support, speed, rigour' approach, our workshops have been designed, and suitably adapted, to support you throughout the entire Chartership process.
With a maximum of five candidates per workshop, on day one you will join a live online workshop with our experienced facilitator who will provide guidance on the report, advice on how to demonstrate the competencies fully, and will generally be on hand throughout the day to give tailored feedback, and advice for the following stages. On the following working day, you will conduct your Professional Review Interview with two of our experienced, friendly Assessors.
Secure your place on a forthcoming CEnv in a Day workshop.
Our CSci Accelerated workshops will return online at the end of the Summer, keep an eye on the events page or contact us to make sure you are notified of the new dates as soon as they are released.
Not sure a workshop is right for you?
We provide a supportive self-guided route for both of our Charterships, allowing candidates to complete the process during their own time and at their own pace. We organise your interview, if required, once your report has been submitted and are on hand to answer your queries throughout the process.
If you are seeking some one to one guidance and an opportunity to gain advice and tailored support, our Chartership Mentoring scheme or Chartership Hotseat webinar series is available to all members.
For those who are currently furloughed, in line with Government guidelines you are still able to undertake CPD and voluntary opportunities such as Chartership.
"The IES regularly hosts 'CEnv in a Day' workshops and even if you are applying for CEnv through the self-guided route, the IES staff are trained to give you support with your application. We are also able to quickly and flexibly arrange interviews." - Chartership candidate
