The Air Quality team sits within the Environment Group, at the heart of Buro Happold's environmental consultancy, providing project work across all parts of the business. This role will take forward the leadership of the company's air quality consultancy capability to deliver growth and diversification into new markets and service offers.
The intention is to grow the team within the company to a size that is appropriate for the importance of air quality as a global issue alongside climate change. You will be able to motivate a diverse workforce, set direction and adapt to fast-changing markets and conditions, and demonstrate of solid understanding of external markets and influences.
Be Challenged:
We are looking for an Associate Director to lead the company's existing Air Quality team, currently a team of three, with additional growth planned for later this year.
This Will Encompass:
- Line management of existing team including undertaking a technical review of deliverables pertaining to the Air Quality team's service offering;
- Development of existing and emerging service offers and sectors and undertaking business development both internally and externally;
- Providing project collaboration across various Buro Happold teams including Acoustics MEP, Energy and Sustainability teams.
We Are Looking For:
- Experience as an air quality consultant or public sector air quality scientist;
- A track-record engaging with clients, collaborators, and colleagues to help to secure projects and develop relationships;
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the sectors in which air quality work is carried out in the UK, both in the public sector and private sector. Some international project experience would be attractive but is not essential;
- Knowledge of the planning system and of the role and responsibilities of local authorities to seek to improve air quality in their local communities;
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior staff to develop their own technical skills;
- A degree and professional registration with a relevant institution (e.g. IES), as well as proficiency in GIS.
