Oil and gas production and use is associated with exposure to health-relevant air pollutants including numerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
This webinar presents the results of field studies which investigated ambient VOC concentrations and potential routes to exposure within oil fields in Iraq, Nigeria and the UK. Analysis of field samples, often collected in residential communities, identified the presence of a diversity of VOCs including species classified as carcinogens.
These field results are presented alongside recent evidence describing VOC emissions related to gas stoves which can lead to exposure in residential dwellings. During this webinar, Greenpeace scientist Dr Aidan Farrow comments on the nature of investigative work carried out within the environmental NGO sector and the importance of evidence-informed campaigning for healthier environments.
