Jennifer graduated in Contemporary Studies at the University of Hertfordshire before obtaining postgraduate qualifications (MA) in Conservation Policy and a PGCE in secondary education from University of London Institute of Education.Over the last ten years,whilst lecturing in environmental sciences,she has taken a leading role in graduate skills development currently as Assistant Director of the Hertfordshire Integrated Learning Project,concerned with the integration of skills development with academic content. She actively promoted an action research approach to learning and teaching as part of the professionalisation of teaching in Higher Education, and was appointed as a Learning and Teaching Development Tutor for the university. Nationally she was a member of the Benchmarking Panel for Earth Science, Environmental Science and Environmental Studies and advisor to the Benchmarking Panel for Geography.
Jenny was Honorary Secretary of the IES from 2003-9, a member of Council from 2001 till 2015 and a key member of the the Committee for the Heads of Environmental Sciences (CHES).
In 2012 Jenny Blumhof was elected Vice President of the IES in recognition of her sustained and substantial contribution to the running of the IES. She retired from Council in 2015.
